Christmas has come and gone, which means it's officially safe for me to buy things for myself. Like this.

Huh, my ownership of the books behind him should come as a surprise to no one. Subtle commentary?

You should link your sparks notes for those books. Because they are awesome.

Also, what happened to buying the John Sheppards for my birthday??? Meanie. /sigh

Great looking action figure! Enjoy! Love, max

It's the Nightrunner series of Lynn Flewelling and Maurice by E. M. Forster - the order on the shelf was just alpha by author, but it happens to be four textually gay novels in a row.

Oh, thank you! E. M. Forster was one of my most favorite authors when I was little (that means, in college)! But I've never read anything by Lynn Flewelling (possibly because it's scifi? is it scifi?). At any rate, I'm going to look up the Nightrunner books on amazon dot com....

Love, max
P.S. If they're not any good, let me know so I won't be tempted to buy them!

The Lynn Flewelling books are fantasy. They're mediocre at best, writing wise, but they are very very very VERY gay. So, I found them well worth reading, but they're certainly not masterpieces of literature by any stretch of the imagination. They're sort of fun, plotty, emotional, angsty fantasy stories with a gay main relationship instead of a straight one.

Thanks for the heads-up! I think the gayness might be enough for me, too! Grin! Love, max

If you end up liking them, you may want to check out Carol Berg's Transformation series, and Storm Constantine's Wraeththu for more fantasy gayness (they're not the only ones, but I find them very readable).

Someone on LJ pointed out to me the Gaylactic Spectrum Awards (http://www.spectrumawards.org/). More SF/F gayness, whoohoo!

I like Sarah Monette's books a lot!

I love how the Lynn Flewelling books look like they've been read four times each.

I also love how action figures have gotten to be so high in quality and realism these days.

To be fair, I bought the Nightrunner books used.

To be COMPLETELY fair, I didn't so much read them as STUDY them.

Action figures are amazing these days! My only regret is that Sheppard and Oscar Wilde are not on the same scale.

Those are better-drawn than my pictures of Alec and Seregil, anyway. :)
