After I posted my woefully limited TS top-few list, you lovely people gave me some recs of things I should have read ages ago. Well, I am reading them now!
Exit Wound by Brighid
"I tried telling him about my first time, but he just told me it wasn't the same, and he's right it isn't, not really. It never is.
He's hurting, and I can't do anything at all.
It's killing us both."
Well recommended by
mab_browne and
t_verano. A Blair's-first-kill story - angsty and painful in a simple, realistic way. I wasn't sold at first on the jumping around in time and POV, but when it comes together, it's so worth it.
Everything You Need in One Convenient Location by
julad
"Jim tossed some lettuce and a bag of tomatoes into the cart, just to watch Sandburg dive to save them. A week ago the kid had crushed some guy's chest with a vending machine, but god forbid Jim roughhouse some fucking fruit."
Thanks to
t_verano for the link! For some reason I could only find one Julad TS story--Limbo, the one where they run away to a desert island to ride out the secret getting out--and it was good, and angsty, but this one is plain fun. It's a post-The Debt supermarket fic, and it is a delight!
Senses & Sensibility by

"Then there were hands on his arm, on his forehead, gentling him. The hands were warm, the fingers were steady. He could feel the whorls of Sandburg's fingerprints. He wanted to memorize them.
'I can't see.' He hoped he was making sound."
This is quite an early one by Kass, I think; I'd never read it, somehow, but it's like, yes. The concept is so simple and so, so canon-based and so, so, so necessary: Jim starts losing his senses altogether because he's repressing his attraction to Blair. See? Necessary! The especially best thing about this setup is that it creates an increasingly dire problem for which sex ACTUALLY IS the logical solution.
