We're going to make this a Boxing Day the Prime Minister will never forget!

Yesterday was December 25th, and everyone knows what that means: Yuletide and Due South Seekrit Santa went live! I got lovely treats!

For DSSS: Sing Me A Winter Song, F/K watercolor, a super sweet and romantic and cozy vision of Fraser and Kowalski in their Arctic cabin post-COTW. Blankets! Guitars! Long underwear! New or transported chili pepper lights! Awwwwzheva.

For Yuletide: Ramona's Law of Reciprocal Actions, a futurefic showing the kids from the Ramona series by Beverly Cleary at ages 17+. I love futurefics of kids' lit; I mean, partially it's because I just love high school romances (which this totally IS, and a very sweet one, though I won't spoil the pairing). One of the things I love most about the Ramona series is following the characters over time, watching them grow and change and yet still remain fundamentally themselves. This author's Ramona (and her Susan, Daisy, Howie, Yard Ape, Davy, Beezus...) is very IC but also mature, romance-minded, and vaguely delinquent. It's delightful!

I hope your treats were just as satisfying, friends!

Dear Yuletide Writer

Ha ha. I signed up for Yuletide. Listen, two of the three Secret Santas which I have not yet done are due next week, so after next week I'll be free! Right? Right.

Hello, Yuletide writer!!! *waves arms wildly* I am so thrilled to have you writing for me. More on my choices. )

It appears the words I've used most in all of these requests are "romance" and "hijinks." At least I'm consistent!

Yuletide Reveal

I had to wait for the Yuletide reveal to do any kind of "2009 year in review," because the only stories I wrote this year were for Yuletide! I think they balance each other nicely.

The Road to Hell, Crime and Punishment, Raskolnikov/landlady's daughter (canon female character) - Serious, angsty, philosophical, unsettling.
"Surely you can imagine a reason to commit a crime which is not in itself bad. If the result of the crime was good..."

The Plus-One Scale-Mail Pasty Postulate, Big Bang Theory, Howard/Raj - The opposite of that.
"Is that an eleven foot pole in your bag of holding, or are you just happy to see me?" said Howard.

"My lance of faith shudders with a radiant pulse," said Raj.

"That statement doesn't begin to make gameplay sense," Sheldon tsked.

Those links will bring you directly to AO3; currently, that's the most updated listing of my stories (it turns out I have yet to post even 2008's Yuletide stories on my site).

It's been kind of a non-fannish year.

Dear Yuletide Writer

So, despite not having posted or checked this journal for, oh... most of 2009 (I regret missing some of your comments, and TS Secret Santa and various other end-of-year challenges I meant to glom onto at last moment--d'oh!) I am participating in Yuletide! So glad I didn't miss the deadline (Thursday).

Dear Yuletide Writer... )

Happy Yuletide! See you on December 21.

2008 Round-up

It's new New Year, and you know what that means: author reveals and restrospectives!

I am now prepared to officially take credit (and/or blame) for the following:Permalinks will be up at my site... eventually.

I have so many yuletide treats!!!

I've never participated in [livejournal.com profile] yuletide before, so I don't know if this is normal, but due to what I can only assume is a Christmas miracle and/or clerical error, I have been gifted with no less than five (5) stories! AND THEY ARE SO MUCH FUN.

Electioneering, Baby-Sitter's Club, Gen - Takes place in high school! I love seeing the BSC girls age. :)

As Though The Strings Were Thine, Merchant of Venice, Antonio/Bassanio - I seriously can't believe I actually got this! An extremely valid and delicious "Bassanio fucking Antonio for money" reading.

I Should Assume It's Still Unsteady, How I Met Your Mother, Barney/Robin pre-het (? is that a term?) - Robin deals with some emotional fallout w/r/t her father's feelings about her and Barney's apparent coldness masks surprising sweetheartiness - i.e. things I love in HIMYM.

It's Magic, How I Met Your Mother. Barney is MAGIC. Seriously. How did this writer know about my NPH/unicorn OTP...?

Waiting, How I Met Your Mother, as Barney/Robin as the show. Could it be... a new Sparkles video? :) A sweet holiday tale with great, funny one-liners.

I want to thank all of my Yuletide writers - this was an awesome haul! I really appreciate all the work everyone put in. All the stories came out great and I adored reading them.
