to write the unwriteable wrong

So, apparently if you download MOBI from A03, it doesn't include image files. Which is a problem, since there are some plot-central handwritten notes in one of my stories. They have alt tags, but apparently that doesn't help. Does anyone know a fallback I can use, or should I just replace them with text? I'd hate for people not to be able to read on a Kindle.
