zelempa: Blair Sandburg looking hopeful (blair hopeful)
More fic! More fic for yoooou.

Actually I wrote this several weeks ago, but the challenge deadline for [livejournal.com profile] ts_ficathons happened to be around the same time as [livejournal.com profile] reel_sga. So, it looks like I'm very prolific. I'm not in the middle of anything now, though, which is actually nice, as I have a bunch of RL type stuff to get done. But I do owe [livejournal.com profile] keefaq a story...

"Go Down Gamblin' by [livejournal.com profile] zelempa
Fandom, Category, Pairing: The Sentinel, Slash, Jim/Blair
Length: ~6900
Rating: R
Notes: For [livejournal.com profile] ts_ficathons, prompt: "The House Always Wins." Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] yolsaffbridge and [livejournal.com profile] keefaq for multiple rounds of beta, and to [livejournal.com profile] sliceydicey for explaining blackjack. Remaining butchery is mine.

Summary: Blair shuffled the deck back together. "How do you know so much about gambling, anyway, Mr. Law Enforcement?"

"Hey, I worked vice. Believe me, Chief. You can't fight it. The house always wins."

"We'll see about that." Blair held Jim's gaze with a defiant look while he surreptitiously snagged a slice of bacon from the done pile.

Two Weeks Notice

"Two Weeks Notice" by [livejournal.com profile] zelempa
Fandom, Pairing: Stargate: Atlantis, McKay/Zelenka
Category, Genre: Slash, Romantic Comedy
Length: Approx. 10,000 words. GOD. WHAT HAPPENED.
Rating: PG
Notes: Finished just in time! For the [livejournal.com profile] reel_sga Romantic Comedy challenge. Based loosely on (or rather, the premise of) Two Weeks Notice. It is not necessary to have seen the movie. Set in early season 4, but I do not believe there are any spoilers. Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] keefaq and [livejournal.com profile] yolsaffbridge for speed-beta.

Summary: "You take me for granted," Rodney barreled on. "You'll be lost without me!"

"I take

you for granted!" Zelenka stood, now, his stupid Freecell game forgotten. "You have no idea how much I do around here..."

"Of course I do! You take care of all the, the little things I don't care about, thus freeing me up to do the real work. Why do you think I've kept you around all this time?"

"That is wonderful," said Zelenka. "I am your bitch boy."

"Yes!" cried Rodney, delighted that he understood.

Only one month after the arbitrary deadline I made [livejournal.com profile] maxinemeyer assign me, here, finally, is my heartbreaking work of staggering angstiness.

Title: Overload [at my site]
Fandom, Pairing: The Sentinel, Jim/Blair
Rating: Mature audiences
Word Count: ~17,000
Spoilers: Sentinel, Too Part 2
A/N: I never knew how much resentment I harbored toward Blair for always being right. Here's me writing this story: (type type) "Oh, man, poor Blair. I am shattering his world. And when he tries to put the pieces together, I take them away and hide them. Oh, dear little Blair, you deserve a hug. You won't get one." (type type) You have been warned.
Lovely beta from [livejournal.com profile] yolsaffbridge, [livejournal.com profile] keefaq and [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt.

Summary: It was times like these when he seemed almost there, when Blair began to think he could snap him out of it if he just tried hard enough. He'd whisper intently into his ear, sometimes for hours at a time: "C'mon, Jim. Come back to me. Follow my voice..." The good times were worse than the bad, in that way, because it always seemed--it always so seemed!--like that would work.

I signed up for the Totally Unofficial Someecard Challenge, in which [livejournal.com profile] hackthis assigned someecards.com e-cards as prompts. Here's mine. And here is my story.

Title: It's Complicated [Off-site mirror here]
Fandom, Pairing: Stargate: Atlantis, McKay/Sheppard
Rating: PG
Word count: ~2,500
Spoilers: Set around season 2, with passing references to minor bits of information we find out in 3x15 "The Game" and 4x13 "Quarantine."

So, this requires some preface, I think.

This is in honor of the one-weekiversary of [livejournal.com profile] janedavitt posting some screencaps from Desperate Housewives of RB tied to a bed. Those images kicked around in my head for awhile and on Sunday when I had planned to either work on the angst epic I promised awhile back or to do something else with my LIFE, LORD, I instead sat down at the computer and wrote PWP. Three hours of typing later it had taken a determined and surprisingly canonical detour into angstville. This I found pleasing, and I hope you will, too. This one goes out to you, Jane.

As always, the enormous brain that [livejournal.com profile] yolsaffbridge somehow fits in her skull was instrumental in helping me figure out what I was doing with this story.

Title: Subject to Error [Off-site mirror here]
Fandom/Pairing: The Sentinel / Guess.
Rating: I think I finally earned my NC-17!!!!! Anyway, I caused my beta to remark, "Ha, this is graphic."
Word count: ~4,000

Oh, Lord. What have I become? What have I become that I think "This would be the worst idea ever," and so I write it?

Missing scene from (and therefore spoilers for) SGA 4x11 "Be All My Sins Remember'd."
Rodney/Fran (!!), G, 500 words, unbeta'd.

Why don't people understand my intentions? )

[livejournal.com profile] tianostra pointed out that there are some very good accessibility type reasons why some readers prefer to have things in lj, rather than off-site, if at all possible. Since my most recent story is short enough, I've reposted it under the cut for anyone who prefers not to surf elsewhere.

For those of you who've already read it at my site: nothing new here, sorry.

With Replacement )

Wow, a jillion posts yesterday, and today I'm posting a fic. Because Sunday is the best day to do that.

With Replacement
Fandom & Pairing: SGA, McKay/Sheppard
Word Count: ~4,900
Rating: Oh, I don't know. I hate letter ratings. "Mature audiences," let's say.

"Sheppard," Rodney said, carefully maintaining composure, "have you considered the possibility that you might have an exact physical double?"

"So what else would be new?" came Zelenka's muffled voice.

As proof that I am indeed writing I offer this short scene cut from my current TS WIP. Things have veered in another direction and there's no way I could possibly put it back even if I wanted to, or at least, it would be very ill-advised. So it's going here! It requires no context and won't spoil you as it has next to nothing to do with the plot of the surrounding story (which probably explains why it had to be cut).

Title: Safety Risk
Words: 160

One more thing: in honor of the [livejournal.com profile] ts_secret_santa reveal, I've now got a mirror up of my story, The Classification of Waterfowl.

I just want to send out another general "thank you" to everyone who was so supportive of my [livejournal.com profile] mcshep_match story, which I can now confess, was Rock, Paper (No Scissors) (the one where John and Rodney pass goofy notes to each other from adjoining prison cells). I've read (and, [too] occasionally, written) comments on other people's work before, but I wasn't prepared for just how lovely they were going to be! I loved writing the story and I am very glad that so many contest-watchers enjoyed reading it, too!

I also want to apologize for sucking at commenting on other people's work. It was weird, in this contest, because I wasn't sure if it would tip off who didn't write what, but that's no excuse. I also want to apologize for losing steam at the end, although I have to plead real-life issues for that. Still, must reform. Anyway, my fellow team members and my opponents on the Romance team wrote some excellent stories. Let's all give ourselves a hug!

Several team members gave me great comments in the team beta, and I want to thank everyone on my team for helping out. Special thanks go to [livejournal.com profile] gothphyle, who came up with the clever title, and to the always awesome [livejournal.com profile] yolsaffbridge, who gave me a lot of constructive comments and ideas for rewriting--I actually think she deserves a lot of the credit for how well it turned out.

I might, someday, be able export it to AVI. *Maybe.*

It's still kind of unclear.

Today I wrote a drabble ending in the sentence,

"'Rodney, must you betray me with a kiss?' John asked, annoyed, and fainted."

And I will not apologize for it, never, never.

It's the "annoyed" part that gets me every time.
