1x10 Vow of Silence "The others cross themselves again, and Blair slaps Jim on the arm affectionately, which for him comes to much the same thing. (Did I just liken Jim to Blair's messiah? Oh... well... I guess that's apt.)"

And we are done with season one. I love The Roundup; I wish I'd done it for every season. I'll just have to fudge it, I guess. Let me know if I missed anything, won't you?

There's still one or two episodes I'd like to complete/spruce up. After that... I don't know. The world! (Or maybe some fic.)

Great job, as always! It did always confuse me why Blair didn't seem to know how to cross himself at dinner... you'd think he'd have picked that up when he was LIVING at the monastery...

Maybe when (not if, but when, she insists stubbornly) Seasons Two through Four come out you can go through them again with fresh screencaps, and do the Roundup then.

Yeah, I mean, I mentioned most of the things I end up round-upping in the text of the actual recaps, so even if I did a little editing I could probably manage a near-complete one.

And thanks for reminding me--I *do* have some higher quality versions of some of the episodes now, so I can do a little bit of cap-updating.

Blair either didn't know how to cross himself or didn't want to; but he kind of did the worst of both worlds, there, to sort of do it but not really. He should have just not done it, like Jim. You're right, it is weird that he didn't figure out an answer to that conundrum when he was there before.

I rather like the fact that the bad guy isn't telegraphed in this story. And it's a good episode for unspeakably pretty Blair scenes too. ::is shallow::

The Spartacus riff is maybe a little silly, but the actors all work hard, I'll give them that.

I was about to mention the sheer prettiness of Himself, yes :) Capping this one is a delight.

Blair was ridiculously beautiful, from his ponytail and dark T-shirt and necklace on the basketball court to his flowylong hair elsewhere. Did they color saturate the DVDs to bring out his eyes and mouth?

The bad guy wasn't telegraphed, but I have several problems with him, including, but not limited to:

* There was no reason for him to confess / come out when he did; they had hardly anything against him. A college basketball player missed a shot? Maybe he just didn't want to play. And the abbot knew that he had been a basketball player, so he was only really hiding it from Jim and Blair, and there was no reason for him to; it's not like that would tip him off as the killer in any way.
* There was no reason even for him to really even be there at that particular time. It's been decades since this guy sold out the mob, and he hasn't spoken, so what changed? Why now?
* I am still not clear on why he killed the bell-ringer and the amateur novelist. Did he think they were Jackie? Clearly the bell-ringer wasn't; he was altogether the wrong age. Did he know something?
* WHY DID THE TRIPWIRE NOT TRIP HIM ON THE WAY UP SERIOUSLY

Sorry. Never mind. Happy place. Blair...

The tripwire is a major problem, I agree.

I assume that Silent Brother got killed because he suspected the baddy of being up to no good. He was right. And Brother Christopher was going to show Jim the piccie of Jackie Kozinski. Perhaps he'd done a little amateur sleuthing on his own account, and Bad Guy overheard. Or something.

::goes back to admiring the J/B interaction and prettiness::

Oh right, the photograph.

Hey, as long as the killer was breaking into Brother Christopher's room, why didn't he just steal the photograph?

Oh, never mind. They touched each other's arms! *is pacified*

Chiming in with the choir here, but that tripwire has bugged me for EVER. No way it wouldn't have tripped him going up, no way bad guy had chance to sneak up and attach the loose end while the game was on and the bells were being rung.

Sloppy writing.

And my God, they both looked gorgeous out in the green, flowery countryside! The colours were so rich and vibrant; the surroundings, their clothes. It's really noticeable.

This was an episode full of cuteness. Plus, it really cements how close the two of them are relatively early on and how much trust they have in each other.

Dropping by from crack_van.
I haven’t seen season one, so your recaps were very useful and entertaining!
Nice job!

Thank you! Most people who read them have seen the episodes, I think, so it's nice to hear that they were comprehensible to someone who hasn't. :)

I have seen season two, three and some episode of four, so I do know the character except for Caroline. And I have read many J/M stories, so I did recognize some of the bad guys too. :-)

I’m reading season two now, and it really great to see some of the things that I’ve missed, I’ll have to watch it again! *g*
