I liked this episode much more on rewatching.

1x9 Attraction "Blair gives Jim a mini-lecture on pheromones, concluding with, 'It's kinda like, ah, when people say that you got chemistry with somebody? Well, we actually do have chemistry.' Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Ha."

Jim kisses like don't stop, doesn't he? The hands in the hair is something Jim does a lot in kissing scenes, so it's lucky Blair has plenty of hair to play with.

Um. Oh, the hell with it. I stand by that last bit, no matter HOW you want to read it :-)

I think Jim the morning after is cuter than a basketful of kittens (weirdly, I wrote a tiny fic about that scene a couple of days ago..) and Blair is devastated, not so much that Jim scored (he was pretty much forcing him to go for it) but because Jim utterly forgot he existed.

That's just not something Blair can deal with.

Overall, this is a good episode because it highlights how vulnerable the senses can make Jim; I love that the show never made them an unmixed blessing.

But he overcomes them in the end; he's stronger than his physical needs and responses and I think he's realized it's not love, or anything close to it.

The senses do seem to be a burden as much as they actually help, which yeah, is nice. Jim is SO CUTE when he's vulnerable. If Blair suffers beautifully, Jim suffers adowably.

It's true that Blair is just a little too upset in that morning-after scene. He knows what's wrong with Jim, but his first reaction is still to sulk at him. Because it's important to get across the point: being controlled by external impulses beyond your control is no excuse to ignore ME!!

I kind of use the canon het scenes to take notes on likely events for when the boys finally get a clue. Man, is Blair in for a treat.

Jason Carter and unicorn references. Bwahaha.

Yeah, I know--just the fact that Jim "I Don't Know, I Must Have Repressed It" Ellison has that kind of passionate energy pent up behind the floodgates bodes well for us. And Blair. Mostly Blair.

Jason Carter will never be anyone but Marcus to me. I just spent this episode waiting for him to bust out the handy extendo-staff and Christmas Carol references.
