I liked this episode much more on rewatching.
1x9 Attraction "Blair gives Jim a mini-lecture on pheromones, concluding with, 'It's kinda like, ah, when people say that you got chemistry with somebody? Well, we actually do have chemistry.' Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha. Ha."

I think Jim the morning after is cuter than a basketful of kittens (weirdly, I wrote a tiny fic about that scene a couple of days ago..) and Blair is devastated, not so much that Jim scored (he was pretty much forcing him to go for it) but because Jim utterly forgot he existed.
That's just not something Blair can deal with.
Overall, this is a good episode because it highlights how vulnerable the senses can make Jim; I love that the show never made them an unmixed blessing.
But he overcomes them in the end; he's stronger than his physical needs and responses and I think he's realized it's not love, or anything close to it.

on 2008-01-21 12:42 pm (UTC)It's true that Blair is just a little too upset in that morning-after scene. He knows what's wrong with Jim, but his first reaction is still to sulk at him. Because it's important to get across the point: being controlled by external impulses beyond your control is no excuse to ignore ME!!
