Jim mostly hugs people he hasn't seen in a long time in greeting. He's always just seen Blair two minutes ago.

I think we can assume that the post-Lash hug *happened*, but it was just cut from *what we saw*.

Actually that rationale can cover a lot.

They made out in the elevator after the doors closed at the end of this episode. I decree it to be so!
