XMFC practice art

Practice drawing the XMFC guys. Partly because I'm gearing up to do illustrations for the summer fic challenge, partly because I could not bring myself to do anything from my list of things to do today.

I so often do 3/4 views that I decided to get some practice doing straight up forward and side. Hence, mug shots. I'm trying to get a feel for how to stylize these guys. Well, maybe i mean "draw." The dirty secret about my style is that it's not really stylized, this is the best I can draw.

I think they look fantastic! The expressions are terrific, and I especially love Charles's hair in the first one (eee!) not to mention his fingerless gloves, and all the ways you've got the strong lines of Erik's cheeks and jaw and chin so clearly defined in both of his drawings. :D

Nicely done! Charles's mouth is tricky but I think you've done it well, just delicate enough not to overstate those lips. And I second Helens, the planes of Erik's face are indicated very well (and they're so important to his look.) I like how you've drawn their clothes, too.

I get what you mean about Charles's mouth being easy to overdo. I get it. It is so pretty that you just want to lavish time and attention on it.

Did not do poll because... okay, A) I like them starkly black and white B) while I'm never opposed to compromising positions, I don't know this fandom and these characters and my compromising-positions imagination is currently stymied even for fandoms which I do know C) "keep practicing" is a wrong answer when I like what you've done here so much D) much as it would be cool for you to currently be into drawing in my currently favorite fandoms, I totally can't vote for that because drawing where your heart is seems like the only way to go to me...

Hahah, keep practicing isn't the wrong answer, but I can see how it looks that way. I'm not known for my tact even to myself!

You're right, though, I would have (more or less) ignored pleas to draw different characters... although I have a couple big bangs coming up where I'll have illustrations from other fandoms. Apparently I signed up to do art for TSBB at some point? Sure!
