Hypothetical questions about fictional characters: that's what I DO!

Meme from [livejournal.com profile] sallymn...

Make up your own list of 15 characters before you read the questions.

1. John Sheppard
2. Rodney McKay
3. Blair Sandburg
4. Benton Fraser
5. Dana Scully
6. Sir Percy Blakeney
7. Seregil
8. Daniel Deronda
9. Prospero
10. Natasha Rostova, aged fourteen
11. Callisto
12. Essex (Earl of Essex)
13. Vince Noir
14. Vinnie Delpino
15. Edmund Pevensie

And the questions:

1) 12 and 7 get married and move in together. What kind of home would they live in? Who will decorate the house and would either of them be tempted to have an affair with 1?

The Earl of Essex and Seregil would have a great house, full of chaises to lounge in and books and closets and closets of fancy shiny doublets. Seregil would probably do most of the decorating because Essex would be out having parades and overthrowing castles, etc. They'd have lots of cozy games of chess in the evenings but eventually at some point Seregil would lapse into a deep depression and Essex would probably knock over his glass of water and go out with his friends in a snit. They would both have affairs with John Sheppard.

2) 1, 4, 8 & 13 fall through a dimensional portal leading to the Star Wars universe. What will they do until they get back home? Will they work as a team or will they try to kill each other?

I would like to state for the record that John, Fraser, Daniel Deronda and Vince Noir is the best team ever, if slightly overloaded with moral compasses. (But I think John and Vince need that.) I really think they would get along well. John would be the leader and strategizer, Fraser would do most of the actual crimefighting, Daniel Deronda would come up with ways for them to do the maximal amount of good, and Vince would be their morale and PR man, keeping them from becoming depressed or jaded with his sunshiney disposition, and providing kicky costumes.

But that is not the question. The question is what would they do in the Star Wars universe. I think they would fight injustice. Probably they would be part of the rebel resistance. Although, they might have some trouble with Fraser; he's a force of pure good, sure, but is he willing to break the law?

3) If 2 and 7 went out to dinner, where would they go, what would they eat, and what would they do afterwards?
I can only imagine that Seregil is trying to get some top-secret classified information out of Rodney, but Rodney just keeps going on about how great and smart he is and frustratingly spilling all kinds of data that's NOT classified. (He looks like he'd be an easy mark, but I bet he's really, really not.) Seregil would choose this experimental Asian Fusion kind of place near the Street of Lights, hint hint; Rodney would complain and send back his plate because there was an orange slice garnish. At the end of the night Seregil would jettison his plans to bring Rodney to his favorite brothel and they would bid each other an insincere goodnight. Seregil would proceed to the brothel alone. Rodney would get some work done.

4) What kind of a pet would 9 have?
A freckled whelp, hag-born—not honoured with a human shape.

5) How might 6 manage to badly offend 2, and what would 2 do about it?
Rodney would walk in on Sir Percy, expert hands flying away under the control panel in the busted jumper. As soon as he saw Rodney Percy's hands would drop languidly and he would affect a vapid grin.
"What the hell are you doing?" Rodney would scream. "That's delicate equipment! I told you not to touch anything!" He'd blink in surprise as the console burst to life. "What... how did you...?"
"Odds fish, rewirin' a DHD ain't difficult," Sir Percy would yawn. "I do it all the time, and I daresay I am the biggest fool in Pegasus. Tsk, tsk. We really must do something about those collars. Have you ever considered a cravat?"
"Get, stop that, get away! Sheppard!"

6) Due to some plot device, 8 & 11 end up in charge of a baby they're supposed to be jointly responsible for. How do they manage?
Daniel Deronda would agonize about whether or not to bring it up Jewish; Callisto would render the question bootless by eating the baby.

7) It's up to 13 & 15 to save the universe! How doomed are we?
Edmund is a smart kid with a good head on his shoulders and a firm sense of repsonsibility due to a dark incident in his past. Vince Noir is useless but everything seems to turn out well for him. I think we're in good shape.

8) 1 asks for 3's hand in marriage. How does 3 react? And what possessed 1, anyway?
John... wants to marry... Blair. Well, I guess John likes 'em smart. He's in for a disappointment, though. Blair's already married.

9) 3, 5, and 10 get into a physical fight for a silly reason. What was the reason?
Blair and Scully were put in charge of looking after young Natasha while Jim and Mulder investigate a mysterious supernatural crime that ocurred in her house (e.g. ghosts, Sonya pulled a Carrie, etc.). Natasha was very difficult and tried to escape over the garden wall. When Blair and Scully tried to pull her down, she flailed and kicked.

10) 2, 10, 12 and 15 are in a car (or other small vehicle) together. Who drives, who is in which seat, and where are they going?
Natasha and Edmund are too young to drive (depending on the timeline we're going with), so I guess the adults would stick them in the backseat to play some quaint word game in French (I'm assuming Edmund knows some French). Essex would insist on taking charge but he and Rodney would argue bitterly about the best way to get there.

They are either going to investigate a rift in the space-time continuum, or a carnival.

11) 1 and 5 are getting into politics together. How might they achieve their goals?
Scully takes the responsibility very seriously. Sheppard claims not to care what happens as long as it doesn't cut into his surfing schedule. In practice, though, he proves active and very stubborn; he always insists on throwing caution to the wind where she would prefer to play it safe, and he always drives Air Force One himself. Both hate diplomatic functions.

12) 3, 7, 8 and 11 are stranded on a hospitable but uninhabited planet. What is their situation a year later?
Blair, Seregil, Daniel Deronda, and Callisto. Do you get the feeling certain numbers are being overused here?

Blair would be psyched about this. I think he would love it. Plus, he has all those survival skills. So does Seregil; I think between them, they'd run a pretty tight ship, and they're both interested in problem-solving and creature comforts so it would also be comfortable. Deronda would pitch in and learn quickly and I think he would get a great sense of personal fulfillment out of working the land.

On the other hand, Callisto would routinely torch everything for fun, so. There's that. Deronda would probably make endless attempts to reform her, but I don't think it would go well for him. Meanwhile, back in Treehouse Central, is that love blossoming between Seregil and Blair?

13) 4 challenges 14 to a duel. Why, and what happens?
I can see Fraser challenging someone to a duel - he *would* think to solve a dispute that way - but Vinnie is so much littler than him! I suppose Vinnie must have slept with a girl Fraser was bound to protect. Vinnie would freak, and would eventually convince Fraser with his nervous chatter that he was not a threat and that going through with the duel would be unfair and dishonorable.

14) 3 & 4 and 7 & 9 team up to compete against each other. What would the game / sport / challenge be, which team would win, and why?
Blair and Fraser versus Seregil and Prospero: this MUST be a battle of wits. Say trivia. The winner would depend on the questions, but in general, I think Blair and Fraser have an edge because they have a wide variety of encyclopedic knowledge bases--Fraser's law and nature and history and Blair's world culture as well as pop culture--whereas Seregil and Prospero would be great if the topics centered around potions and regeants and possibly shipcraft but totally lost when it came to questions about MTV.

15) 1, 4, 7, 12, 15 are playing poker. Who cheats, who wins, and who is a bad loser?
John, Fraser, Seregil, Essex, and Vinnie. John goes out quickly in a blaze of glory; Essex makes a lot of charming jokes and is generally good company, but he cheats, and he becomes unnecessarily offended it's pointed out; Vinnie has a whole card-counting scheme worked out but it immediately goes awry and he folds after calling up Doogie to ask for, and be denied, a quick loan. It really comes down to Fraser vs. Seregil, here, I think. I think it's been established that Fraser is an excellent poker player, and I bet Seregil also has a lot of skill and a flawless poker face.

16) 5, 9, 10 get somehow stuck in a subway / underground train. What happens?
Scully tells everyone to remain calm. She can dispense medical attention as needed. I am really glad she's there, because Prospero and Natasha Rostova aren't much help. Prospero keeps trying to summon help from the spirits of the underground, and Natasha just wants to know what we are having for sweet.

17) Finally of all fifteen, who would you pick to babysit?
It depends on the personality of the child; Fraser, for example, is frequently shown as being good with children (he's understanding and kind), but it would have to be a child with respect for discipline (he was lost with that one girl who kept running away to experience the Chicago nightlife). Scully would probably have similar problems. I don't think she would understand if a child refused to do what she said.

Prospero would be overbearing. Blakeney would do a bad job on purpose, although he wouldn't let the child come to any real harm. Sheppard and Seregil and Essex wouldn't, either, but they would probably also neglect the kid, since they have a lot of other stuff on their minds. Deronda, Delpino and Edmund would probably be fine. Natasha and Vince would be fun for the kid, but much mischief would occur. DO NOT CHOOSE CALLISTO.

Overall, I think Blair might be the best bet: he's patient, he's fun, he has lots of good stories and he can be genuinely interested in anything the child wants to discuss. The child would not get to bed on time, though.

I might just pick Rodney to hurt him, though.
