I don't know much about RP fic but I imagine most people writing it don't really think there's anything going on, no matter how wrapped around each other the actors are (thinking of Supernatural here :-)); they just like the idea of it.

And, well, yeah, I can certainly see why. It's just... I don't KNOW GM and RB so I couldn't write them -- setting aside the fact that I'd feel on the cheeky side -- but I know Jim and Blair. I can also see why people say RPS is as much fiction as writing fic about the characters; in fact it's based on even less canon, if that's the right word.
