Sentinel 1x3 Killers

I was going to work on my WIP today, but instead I did another one of these.

1x3 Killers "[Jim and Beverly] talk about their exes and then Jim stops suddenly. 'What's wrong?' 'Oh, I was just thinking about Danny...' Face, meet palm."

I have to say Blair at the end there looks such a goofy groupie I'm embarrassed for him. It's good for Jim's ego, though, I guess.

I remember thinking that Carolyn must've gutted the place when she moved out... and it's endlessly fascinating (if you're me, anyway) to see the changes Blair makes once he moves in; the place really does go from white and sterile to green and homey; love that they did that very subtlely (if that's how you spell it; it looks weird :;squints::]

And who says Jim in unemotional? He freaks out plenty over Danny's death. Not sure I can see him in the Big Brother program, though... or maybe it's the perfect outlet for repressed protect the tribe impulses?

Yeah, yeah, totally, I noticed that when Beverly was there--it's very utilitarian, very blank-slate; no bookshelves, no pictures or posters, not even a coathook by the door, just plain walls with depressing warehouse-style light switches. It does get very cozy when Blair moves in. Like, "oooh, I want to live there!" cozy. Maybe I should have Blair come and do my place. :)

Although, it turns out the stripey blanket on the couch was Jim's all along.

Was it an official Big Brother program thing? My impression was that Jim took Danny under his wing informally.

Re: the last scene, in Blair's defense, Jim voluntarily and without provocation giving a vivid description of a sensory experience of exactly the kind that Blair would find most useful. A look of "oh my god I can't believe this is happening must encourage him to keep going where is my notebook" is warranted. It was a bit over the top, though. :)

I don't know for sure; I assumed that was how they met and why Danny became a cop; following in Jim's footsteps.

From the transcript:

Simon: Danny lost his dad when he was a little kid. When Jim was in college, he became his big brother. They were real close. Jim was the one who helped Danny get into the academy.

It's such an unusual way to describe it if it's not uppercase official Big Brother; wouldn't you say, 'mentor' or 'friend'?

Although as Jim was supposed to run off at a young age and enlist after the incident with the car, that really messes up the continuity, come to think of it; when did Jim ever go to college? Or maybe I just assumed he didn't...Eh. I dunno :-)

I'm wondering, since it happened in college, if perhaps it wasn't part of a college project or class. Jim perhaps discovered he liked it, or maybe found something in Danny that he connected with...uh..my two cents

Could be; Jim was without a good father figure imself, so he'd sympathise with Danny...

Yeah, I assumed Jim joined the army instead of going to college, but I'm not sure why. It's sort of implied in "Brother's Keeper," but not conclusively. Or perhaps he went to school while he was in the army? Meh--Jim's backstory is pretty much a mess anyway.

You're right--now that I look at the dialogue, it seems more likely that it's an official big-brother thing. So what, Jim has known Danny since Danny was like eight? No wonder he was so upset.

I've just started reading these and I'm totally addicted. Wonderful wrap ups with some LOL lines and comments.

Thanks! There's plenty where this one came from. :)

I'm working my way thru them. Been in TS fandom for some time now so I'm tickled to read these. You put a great spin on all the eps.
