Sentinel 1x2 The Seige

1x2 The Seige "Jim leads him by the elbow toward the men's room. 'Uh, I think you can trust me to handle this mission on my own, Jim,' Blair laughs. 'You sure?' asks Jim, seemingly genuine. 'Yeah. Thanks for the offer, man.' 'It's a tough one,' mutters Jim in a tone of voice which clearly says: Damn, I better pretend I'm continuing a really deadpan joke, because what the fuck, did I just offer to help him pee? Jim, your shame is deserved."

I think Blair's license to kill comment went down about as well as the thin blue line schtick did with Simon. I've never understood these fics where everyone at the police station loves Blair; maybe he grew on them later ;-)

And also, I wonder if Jim's sort of playing with his senses here, kind of getting a kick out of what he can do, as I imagine most men would've smelled the perfume but not been able to ID it. He just looks so super proud of himself when he says it; it's on the adorable side.

oh, totally. I think he may just have burst out with the White Shoulders line without any real idea of where he was going with that. just, "Hey, I did it!"

Jim identifies several specific perfumes/aftershaves by name. He seems to be something of an aficionado.

well, I think he does. He certainly grows on Simon. But it's true that anyone who doesn't work with him that closely would have no reason to have that much affection for him; he's apparently useless and, let's face it, slightly annoying. The bravery and resourcefulness and loyalty are mainly apparent in near-death situations.

But I suppose most people in the station have had plenty of those with him (cf. this episode).

That's true. And there is one episode where he comes in all happy and exchanging banter with people on the way to Jim's desk.

Major Crimes all like him.

The rest of the PD are not so stupid as to argue with Major Crimes on this point (well, would you?)
