Sentinel 3x01 and 3x03 recaps

Hey. I may as well LJ these Sentinel ep reviews, right? (This occurs to me only after putting it on merples and mentioning it on someone else's lj comments.)

Anyway. These are ridiculously long.

An even bigger slacker than we are!

Meltdown in the office today. Y and I were sharing a bagel in her cube and discussing Blair Sandburg's disregard of his ostensible actual occupation.

Z: All he does is police work. Doesn't he need to be, like, publishing articles or something?
Y: Or producing chapters of his dissertation? To show something for his years of endless research?
Z: His university really is forgiving. He does nothing, and they keep offering him these opportunities. He has to be always actively turning things down. His academic work consists pretty much entirely of that.
Y: Also, they don't make him teach classes or hold office hours or anything. Is he being paid?
Z: Is he *paying*?
Y: Is he paid by the police department?
Z: Is he just living off the kindness of Jim? What did he do before that? He did have an apartment and presumably buy his own food, in the first few episodes.
Y: I guess he did some work then. Remember, he was studying that monkey?
Z: Oh yeah. And then as soon as he was at Jim's, he was like, "Oh well, my monkey ran away, I guess I don't have to study this monkey."

At that point we cracked up and laughed uncontrollably for like twenty minutes, but I think that mostly has to do with the fact that we're working over 50 hours this week.
