Sentinel 4x4 Dead End on Blank Street

"Blair does a fake-scared shudder 'ooh,' and says, 'If that man's ass were any tighter, it'd be inside out.' I find it hilarious that Jim is now relating that to Ray. Possibly as a compliment."

DEAD END ON BLANK STREET

If you don't remember them by name, this is the black & white episode. I found it pretty enjoyable.

I've done loads of icons and a vid based on this episode; never seen the two of them look so good as they do in black and white with all the moody lighting. And I love the flash of colour when the car explodes.

So, Veronica, Lila, and Carolyn... can't count Pheremone Girl and Alex, not really. That's not too many important women for an approaching 40 years old man, I guess. He only knew Lila for one week in the past and a few days in the present, though; Veronica feels like someone he spent much longer with so this had to hurt.

I keep thinking of a month when he was mooning over V and ignoring Blair and making sad little noises.

Defintely one of the best episodes of S4 and pretty good over all. It was nice to see them be a little daring without moving too far away from what the show's about.

Yeah, I like when they try something new, and I like references to old movies. I'm sure there were plenty besides Double Indemnity and Casablanca which I didn't get.

Plus there was that guy's wife in Deep Water, and maybe some others. I don't know that I have the problem with the number of women so much as the device of a super important!!!!111! epic romance!!!! with tons and tons of backstory!!! being set up and resolved in one episode. Not that I really want all these multi-episode arcs about various babes of the week, but maybe if there was one femme fatale that Jim had loved that kept reappearing from time to time to screw him over (and not dying, by necessity, until the last episode with her, at which point it would actually have some impact).

It would be especially interesting if they actually made that BE pheromone girl, at least in a way--so it's a girl who's bad and who Jim knows is bad (although she may have some redeeming moments like Lila) but whom Jim is attracted to anyway and it's only with advent of the senses that he realizes it's chemical. Plus every time she came back it would make it really tense, like, who's going to win--Jim's body or his MIND???

Okay, enough reinventing the show to suit my own particular fancy. (And happening to make it more slashable--Jim's attracted to a woman AGAINST HIS WILL! He really wants to be gay!) I may or may not get this next episode in tonight; I haven't watched it yet.

A recurring nemesis girlfriend would've been interesting...
