It KIND OF seems like they were joking around about the nipple ring. But I really want to believe in it, too. You're right that we mainly see his right side in that scene. Still, I wonder why Blair was all feigning surprise that Jim knew about his nipple ring since he was open-shirted in front of him, like, two nights ago. Yet the implication that Jim has been sneaking looks at him naked is delightful.
